Displaying temperature, humidity and pressure in clean rooms

This application note shows the e-Clima display installed on places where the standards specifies the need for this type of screens

Current regulations require having display screens available to continuously monitor temperature and relative humidity at facilities such as operating rooms and clean rooms among others. The e-Clima display screen is a simple device that includes a wide LCD and allows the monitoring of temperature, relative humidity and pressure values of remote sensors.

This device is designed to receive the weather values over a communication bus. For this purpose e-Clima features a standard EN 14908 (LonWorks) bus enabling the reception of values from sensors located anywhere in the room. The e-Clima display also includes an analogue input for the direct connection of a temperature sensor such as the e-Temp device; if this option is chosen, using a LonWorks temperature sensor will not be required and thus reducing the cost of the installation.

Two possible configurations are available to install e-Clima:

1) Installation of sensors featuring LonWorks communication. In this case, sensors will include a Lon communication port and will transmit weather values over the bus on to the e-Clima display.

2) Installation of analogue sensors and value conversion to LonWorks bus through an analogue input module. In this case, standard commercial sensors may be used featuring a 0-10 V or 4-20 mA output, which will be connected to an analogue input module for signal conversion to Lon protocol. This information will transmit through network variables to the e-Clima display.

Furthermore, the communication bus allows remote monitoring of the facility at all times, such as from a maintenance centre, thus enabling remote parameter display and alarm setting for HVAC failure, humidity, etc.
